Press Quotes

‘Brother Tree Sound’s playing is vivid and intense [Ravel]… It is [Tailleferre], like the Durey, extremely charming, with a Parisian insouciance that I really like… terrific disc’ (The Arts Desk)

‘An imaginative selection of French string quartets – With fine attentive performances and a recording and documentation to match, this is a creative disc that also pays homage to the 150th anniversary of Ravel’s birth’ (MusicWeb International)

‘All in all a program that well captures and conveys the unease and disquiet of the times, played with utter conviction by an ensemble to follow.’(Classical Music Sentinel)

‘…I love Brother Tree Sound’s earthy approach to Ravel’s String Quartet here…. all performed with a similarly unfettered passion and sense of forward momentum.’ (**** BBC Music Magazine)

‘The playing of the Brother Tree Sound quartet is very attractive, clear and beautifully integrated… this is a wonderful disc of little-known music from the first part of the twentieth century.’ (AUSTA National Journal)

MAID ON THE SHORE

Songs Without Words

An album with music written by our friends and us. Songs about fields, songs about love, old folk songs, songs about life and songs without words....

'Intimate, Ethereal Beauty'

Stationary Travels review 2022

MAID ON THE SHORE Our album of folksongs from England Ireland and Wales is due for full release on November 1st 2024 and will be available on all listening platforms. Legends of fierce women, love trysts and mythical creatures all feature in this collection of timeless music passed down through the generations.

Interstices

Our first EP with music by three composers with very different styles, interspersed with beautiful interludes which take samples from the music and link the three pieces. The theme is Interstices, which is Latin for what lies between. This can be spaces between performers, spaces in time between musical phrases as well as the space between the sea and the shoreline. It can be where ever we can find those spaces.
